Liz Fagan Band Releases New EP ‘Leaning In / Se Pencher Vers’

St. John’s grunge / alternative rock group Liz Fagan Band have released their first full EP. This new release, entitled Leaning In / Se pencher vers, was released on March 22nd, 2024 through Bandcamp as well as streaming services, and features six tracks.

Liz Fagan Band consists of Liz Fagan on vocals and guitars, Chad Feehan on bass, James Benoit on drums, and Kendall Pittman on synths. The album photo and layout design was done by Krissy Breen, with the EP being mixed by James Benoit and mastered by Sarah Shin, along with band photos being provided by Tony Dawe. The songs “Fleurs fan​é​es” and “Azure” were co-authored by Caroline Fortune. Each song on the EP also features unique artwork which were created by Scotti, Emily Bishop, Darcy Sedgwick, Anatasia Tiller, and Shan Leigh Pomeroy.

QLOI Releases Debut Demo ‘The Tuvaq Demos’

QLOI is a brand new ambient / drone / noise project from Newfoundland and Labrador created by Tony Dawe. The project released its first demo, entitled The Tuvaq Demos, on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. The Tuvaq Demos was recorded as part of the 2024 RPM Challenge and features three songs recorded onto an 8 track that Dawe states may be revisited in the future.

Friends Hold Raffle for Sheavy Frontman Steve Hennessey’s Recovery Following Cancer Diagnosis

Steve Hennessey, the frontman of legendary St. John’s stoner rock / doom metal outfit Sheavy, was recently diagnosed with cancer. In response, friends and family of Steve as well as local musicians have rallied together to hold a raffle to help raise money to support Steve’s recovery process.

In a Facebook group named ‘Waffles for Steve’ people have posted a list of what can be won through this raffle, and the prizes are no doubt rare finds from decades past that are difficult to find all these years later.

So far, the prizes include:

• Dalas Tar by Sheavy, 7″, 1995, released through Mag Wheel Records, clear vinyl with all inserts
• Sugar Cane / Canopy by Hardship Post, 7″, 1993, released through Mag Wheel Records
• Beer Thief by Schizoid, 7″, 1987, released through D.U.P.P. Records, unplayed first pressing
• 2 x photographs of Steve Hennessey signed by Tony Dawe

The raffle has been active since June 26th and will end on June 30th at midnight. The actual winner will be announced on July 2nd and will be hosted by Les Dawe.
