Winterhearth to Play the 2022 ECMA Showcase in New Brunswick

St. John’s blackened death metal band Winterhearth will be traveling to New Brunswick later this year to play the 2022 East Coast Music Awards Festival and Conference. While the festival isn’t exactly known for having a huge host of heavier bands, it’s nice to see metal being acknowledged at all. Winterhearth will share the stage with fellow heavy ECMA nominees Diner Drugs, who are themselves from New Brunswick.

This is not the first time the boys in Winterhearth have traveled abroad to play in other parts of the country, and we certainly hope it won’t be the last. You can check out the full lineup for the festival: here!

Doom ‘An Blue Release Debut Single “Two-Bit Son of a Bitch”

Doom 'An Blue

Montreal stoner / doom / old school heavy metal two piece Doom ‘An Blue have been tearing up the local scene for a while now. Comprised of fellow Newfie and Carbonear native Lee Whiskey (formerly of as many bands as there are clouds in the sky, ie: MutankSpeed DemonCrosstitution, etc) on the riffs and Montreal native Jimmy Antle (also of MurtenscytheGuttrot and Leather Up Your Ass) on the skins, the group has made waves through the local scene through their unique brand of live performance. Inviting a slew of guest vocalists and bassists up on stage to perform with them, from Crosstitution vocalist Fez Khan to Scatha bassist Cintia Ventania to Pink Cocoon mastermind Marc Zolla, the group’s live performances are truly something to behold.

Active since 2017, Doom ‘An Blue finally released their recording debut earlier this year in the form of the single and accompanying music video “Two-Bit Son of a Bitch”, which was debuted on CJLO 1690 AM radio show Grade A Explosives, hosted by Andrew Wieler, on June 23rd. The single is available for streaming on Bandcamp, YouTube and other streaming services across the ‘net. You can check out the music video through our YouTube embed down below.

Here at Heavy NFLD we appreciate our fellow Newfoundlanders who have moved house to other parts of the country, or even abroad to other nations entirely, who still try to keep the spirit of metal alive. Even if they’re doing it elsewhere, we believe that they’re worthy of coverage. As such, you can expect more news from us in the future on what our Newfie brothers and sisters are doing elsewhere on the mainland.
